Education

(The company’s) wide range of educational and community-based practice provides professional development for dancers and opportunities for people to engage in the arts.” Executive Director, Arts Council England Yorkshire.

Education has always been an integral part of the BSDC’s work and, as Diversity Dance, it established a strong reputation as a deliverer of education projects alongside the development of its choreographic and performance work.

BSDC continues to develop new relationships through its education programmes. Working closely with professional theatre venues, art galleries and educational settings, education programmes support touring work and assist audience development by offering opportunities for audiences to access and engage in the work. Education about and the promotion of Kathak is at the heart of the BSDC’s education work. This consists of: masterclasses, one to one tuition, professional dancer development, community and youth group engagement.

Work in schools

BSDC continues to develop and deliver opportunities for children, young people and adults to engage with the company’s work and enjoy new experiences through dance.
